Everything You Need to Know About Diamond Blades

by | Feb 20, 2023 | Tiles

Diamond blades are an essential tool in many trades, from construction and landscaping to fabrication and HVAC. Knowing when and how to use a diamond blade can make any job easier and more efficient. So what can you do with them?

Let’s take a look at some of the jobs that you can do with these blades.

Cutting Concrete, Pavers, and Masonry Blocks

Top-quality Diamond blades are perfect for cutting through concrete, pavers, or masonry blocks quickly and cleanly. When using a diamond blade on these materials, it’s important to use the proper RPMs for the material being cut; too much speed can cause the blade to overheat or even break apart.

It’s also important to keep the blade wet so that it doesn’t overheat. A spray bottle filled with water will do the trick nicely.

Chipping and Removing Tile

These blades can be used to chip away at tiles quickly and easily. To remove the tile with an angle grinder diamond blade, score along each side of the tile as deeply as possible without breaking through into the substrate below. Once scored, gently place a flat-head screwdriver beneath one corner of the tile and pry up until it breaks off.

This process should be repeated until all of the tiles have been removed. Be sure to wear protective eye gear when doing this type of work.

Cutting Aluminum and Steel Grills

When working on heating systems or air conditioners, it may be necessary to cut aluminum or steel grills to access certain areas of equipment for maintenance or repair.

A diamond blade is ideal for this task due to its ability to cut quickly and cleanly without leaving burrs or rough edges behind; again, just make sure not to exceed recommended RPMs when using a diamond blade on metals such as aluminum or steel.
